The agent successfully completed an open-ended discovery task by assembling a comprehensive explanation of Cloudflare's business model, pricing, and competitive positioning — but had to rely almost entirely on third-party search results rather than Cloudflare's own website. The site's JavaScript-heavy architecture and blocked /learning paths prevented direct access to Cloudflare's own explanatory content, forcing the agent to fall back on web search results from blogs and comparison sites.
- ›Steps [1], [2], [3] (direct fetches to homepage, pricing, products pages) returned only HTML headers and boilerplate — no extractable content about what Cloudflare does or how it's priced. The site is heavily client-rendered and not agent-friendly.
- ›Steps [5] and [10] (attempts to fetch /learning and /learning/what-is-cloudflare) returned 403 Cloudflare Challenge pages, blocking access to what should have been the clearest explanatory content. The agent's own documentation is unreachable.
- ›Steps [8] and [9] (web searches for 'what is cloudflare' and 'pricing plans') returned search result links that the agent then cited as sources in the final response. The actual content came from third-party blogs (operavps.com, cloudwards.net, underdefense.com, blazingcdn.com, techjacksolutions.com), not from cloudflare.com.
- ›The agent never actually fetched and parsed any of the third-party URLs it cited — it synthesized the answer from search result snippets and prior knowledge. This is a workaround, not direct content retrieval.
- ›The site is poorly positioned for agent discovery: it blocks its own learning center, doesn't expose static content on core pages, and requires JavaScript rendering that typical agent fetches cannot execute.
